What is Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE)?

SCFE (Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis) is a hip condition that occurs in growing children and adolescents, where the head of the thigh bone (femoral head) slips off the neck of the femur at the growth plate (epiphysis). It’s similar to ice cream slipping off a cone — the femoral head stays in the socket, but the bone shaft moves forward and rotates.
